Marathon Day 47, Sunday 1st May - Salford, Clifford Park

Gosh -it's wonderful to wake up in your own bed (I think I can say that - I know what I mean anyway!)

We're off to Sheffield today! In my earlier blogs I've commented just how wonderful it's been to stay at places where I never dreamed I would ever (be allowed to) stay. Places like Wellington Barracks, London Guild Hall and Horse Guards Parade.  Well - The Crucible is another place that I've always wanted to see - I'm really quite excited!

On our way by 10am (me, Ellie, Ken & Tammy, one of Ellie's best friends) and arrived in good time for a light lunch before "the boys" went one way and "the girls" went another.
Did I mention that we had a couple of beers with lunch!

There was of course the obligatory photograph outside of the theatre and then we were in, buying the almost compulsory glossy programme and the tiny one use radios so that you can listen to the BBC match commentary - good marketing eh!
Outside The Crucible

The occasion was magnificent and met every expectation.

Pre match warm up

Ellie & Tammy also obviously enjoyed themselves judging by the number of shopping bags they were carrying when we met up afterwards and it was then left to Ellie to drive us safely home again.

A wonderful day followed by a leisurely evening and a bit of home baking!

Andy, in the meantime had a good day, supported by a number of Club Runners and finished the flat Clifford Park course in a time of  6hrs 51mins.

47 down, only 19 more to go!
