Early wake up and out of bed at 5.15am. Need to get blog sorted out – still problems with Blogger and I don’t want to get too far behind AGAIN!
We had reconn’ed the route the previous night so had no problems in travelling the short distance to the park – well, most of us didn’t anyway!!
We very quickly set up and after an in depth interview with the Sunday Mirror and a couple of local papers, Andy was once again set on his way by the Lord Provost of Inverness.
On your marks . . . . .
Ian Cassidy, a very good friend of Barry’s accompanied Andy for the greater part of the run and Jim, bless him, covered the last 20 miles with him.
The weather was sporadic alternating between fine and sunny and windy and wet but other than ending up with muddy trainers, this had little effect on Andy.
Several runners shared a few laps with him and these included a couple of players from the local football team who had heard of Andy’s running.
I spent a significant amount of time trying to connect our water hose to the park supply which featured a completely non-standard connector. Eventually, despite several attempts and copious amounts of gaffa tape, I had to admit defeat and instead, approached the owners of the adjacent camp site who obliged us with fresh water and waste facilities. Not only that but they kindly donated £100 to the Charity. Thank you Bught Park Caravan & Camping Club Site.
Andy completed his run in 6hrs 36mins and whilst Nikki and I attended to our watering duties at the Camp Site, the rest of the team set on their way to Aberdeen, some 105miles distant.
The journey to Aberdeen for us ended on the Esplanade where we eventually parked up the RV and I for once chose to take sole occupancy in a Jury’s Inn room in the centre of town in preference to my bed “on-board”. Andy met up with some of his family and friends for the evening whilst Sophie, Nikki and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at “Wagga Mamas”.
With a 6.30am breakfast planned for the morning, it was early to bed.
